The university does not listen to the student voice. Countless calls for the university to end its complicity in the Israeli occupation and cut all commercial and academic ties with Israel have been ignored. As students, we expect our institution to prioritise our education and respect our voice. The university’s complete disregard of these requests and total lack of transparency in its ties, demonstrates that students are valued merely for the exorbitant fees they provide, which are funnelled into harmful investments and collaborations.

The university provides no protection against the possibility of research being used directly to aid in the genocide of Palestinians. The university has research contracts with BAE and other complicit companies, and I am deeply concerned that my work could be used to aid this. This goes directly against the university’s stated ethical principals and basic human decency.
